Camaal Benoit is a Senior Associate in the New York studio of Adjaye Associates. With over 20 years of experience across all phases of the architectural process, Camaal is a versatile designer, project team member, and architect who has dedicated his career to the excellence of architectural design, quality, and execution to create a built environment that supports diverse user experiences. As Senior Associate, Camaal works closely with design leadership, consultant teams, and client groups. He has worked on projects of various scales and typologies, including mixed-use, educational, commercial, retail, supportive, and multi-family residential developments.

Prior to Cooper Robertson joining Corgan, Erin Flynn was a Partner at Cooper Robertson, where she specialized in cultural architecture that transforms how communities engage with art, history, and shared experiences. Her portfolio includes some of the nation’s most significant cultural institutions, including the Whitney Museum, Studio Museum in Harlem, Princeton University Art Museum, St. Louis Arch Museum and New Museum. She approaches each project as an opportunity for elegant problem-solving, creating spaces where architecture becomes a bridge between meaningful institutional missions and the public they serve. Erin is now a Principal and Studio Leader at Corgan where she continues serving cultural institutions.

Join us for a tour of Studio Museum in Harlem with Adjaye Associates and Corgan.

The Studio Museum in Harlem closed in 2018 to construct a new home for its expanded program and collection of African and African American artists. Set to reopen in November 2025, the brand-new 82,000-square-foot building will double the size of its exhibition, studio, and public space. The new building will feature a high-ceilinged central hall for large installations and an “inverted stoop” lobby leading to a lower-level gathering space for lectures, performances, films, or informal socializing.

Members will be joined by architects Camaal Benoit and Erin Flynn for an inside look at the building’s design.

How can design reflect and reinforce the cultural identity of a community?

About Public Works

Public Works is a discussion series to drive civic dialogue around new and forthcoming built environment projects in New York City. Throughout the year, we invite government officials and private sector leaders to present design and development initiatives that shape the public good.  Our goal is to create an open and collegial venue for deeper conversation between the public sector and our network of civic leaders building, caring for, and maintaining our city.

Support Our Work

Public Works is made possible through the support of our Board of Directors, Director’s Circle, Company Members, and our Campaign for Courageous Leadership, and company and individual members. Our programs are made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
