Next Wave: Brooklyn Marine Terminal

Event Public Works
December 11th, 2024
9:00am - 11:00am
FXCollaborative
235 Duffield Street, Brooklyn, NY, USA

Cecilia Kushner is the Chief Strategy Officer, a role in which she leads multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects and programs focused on developing emerging sectors equitably and building neighborhoods of economic success. Previously, Cecilia spent over a decade working for the City on a range of infrastructure, transit operations, land use, and community development programs and policies at NYCEDC and the Department of City Planning.

Join us for a breakfast roundtable on the Brooklyn Marine Terminal with Cecilia Kushner.

This year, NYCEDC assumed operational control of the Brooklyn Marine Terminal from the Port Authority. With new oversight, the City plans to repair and maintain several piers, fund planning for the 100+ acre waterfront, and create a bevy of new maritime jobs. As part of their commitment, the City is assembling a task force of community stakeholders who will develop a shared vision for the future of the waterfront and the surrounding neighborhoods.

We will hear from Cecilia Kushner, Chief Strategy Officer at the New York City Economic Development Corporation, who will share the Brooklyn Marine Terminal’s role in the future of New York’s waterfront.

How can we reimagine New York’s waterfront to support both a bustling maritime economy and inclusive mixed-use neighborhoods?

About Public Works

Public Works is a discussion series to drive civic dialogue around new and forthcoming built environment projects in New York City. Throughout the year, we invite government officials and private sector leaders to present design and development initiatives that shape the public good.  Our goal is to create an open and collegial venue for deeper conversation between the public sector and our network of civic leaders building, caring for, and maintaining our city.
