Mae Francke is an ethnographer, community organizer, and designer focused on justice-centered urban transformation. Specialized in participatory-action research and community engagement, she has an extensive background in grassroots organizing, research, and strategic design. Mae holds an MSc. in Design and Urban Ecologies from Parsons School of Design, and a Bachelors in Cultural Anthropology from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. She is currently a Queens-based Community Organizer with Transportation Alternatives, working as an advocacy strategist and coalition builder. Her approach sits at the intersection of grassroots organizing and policy advocacy; developing local campaigns, influencing city-making, and building power for communities. Her work is centered on artivism, immigrant justice, oral history, and critical cartographies. A compulsive organizer and tupperware thief, in her spare time she enjoys boxing, graphic novels, and watching ducks at the park.
