Katy Burgio is the Deputy Director for NYCHA’s Sustainability Programs Team where she is focused on implementing goals outlined in the NYCHA Sustainability Agenda. Katy’s portfolio includes delivering key demonstration projects that change the urban realm at NYCHA like pneumatic waste collection at Polo Grounds Towers, micromobility charging and storage, 30 MW of solar, and stormwater resilience interventions. Katy previously oversaw the Sustainability Programs team focused on waste infrastructure, managing more than half a billion dollars to update NYCHA’s waste management equipment, changing operational procedures to accommodate sustainable infrastructure, and working with community-based organizations to further the City’s goals to divert organic material from landfill and improve soil quality and stormwater retention through on-site processing.
