David Cooper

WSP

President, Buildings and CCO, U.S.

Fellow since 2006

Mr. Cooper began his career in 1981 as a Mechanical Engineer in the Building Systems group of WSP, formerly known as Flack + Kurtz. He rose through the ranks becoming a partner in 1994, at the age of 33, and President and CEO of the Building Systems business in 2008. In 2012 David was appointed President and CEO of the USA region, and successfully consolidated, integrated and rebranded the four independent WSP businesses into WSP USA, comprised of three divisions; Buildings (a combination of the Systems and Structures businesses) Transportation & Infrastructure, and Environmental. With the acquisition of Parsons Brinckerhoff in 2014 the region reorganized and David resumed direct leadership of the nominally 1,150 person Buildings business and assumed the regional role of Chief Commercial Officer. During his career David has led some of the region’s largest and most complex building projects, such as MGM’s $8.0 billion, 20M sf CityCenter development in Las Vegas, and he has been a pioneer and champion for sustainability. David is a licensed professional engineer and is a LEED® Accredited Professional with over thirty-three years of experience.
