Employment in the Sharing Economy

Arun Sundararajan discusses how employment contracts and relations are changing with the growth of the sharing economy.

“The sharing economy is taking us away from corporations that hire people as full-time employees, and toward platforms that are hybrids between organizations and markets, and that have a fundamentally different relationship with providers, where it moves from ‘I work for you full-time in exchange for money’ to ‘I run my small business through you’ sort of like a micro-franchisee. Now in this scenario, we have to completely redefine the funding model for the social contract that we have constructed over the last hundred years. ” – Arun Sundararajan
