Alexandra Sutherland-Brown joined Karp Strategies as an urban planning strategist with demonstrated expertise in urban and graphic design, communication strategy, and stakeholder engagement. Formerly at the NYC Department of City Planning, Alexandra is a physical planner and communications professional who is sensitive to the human experience of cities and neighborhoods. She has worked extensively to build connections among communities and project teams by creating innovative outreach and communications strategies in urban planning contexts. She delivers clearly articulated narratives through a combination of graphics and writing. Ali is known for her empathetic, efficient, and collaborative approach to multi-stakeholder projects. Ali graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts in History and American Studies, and from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with a Master's in City Planning. She also completed graduate work in Urban Studies at the University of Chicago. In 2018, Ali completed IDEO U's certification in Design Thinking and was selected to be a member of Coro New York Leadership Center's Leadership New York (LNY) program. She sits on APA's Urban Design Committee, on the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation's (SIEDC) Executive Women's Council, and is a Fellow on the Urban Design Forum.
