Arun Sundararajan describes the deleterious effects of automation on the workforce in developing nations like Bangladesh, Thailand and Vietnam.

 

“Automation is going to gulp up a lot of the jobs where China, Thailand, Vietnam and Bangladesh have historically relied heavily on certain professions to employ unskilled people. It really depends on the profession and the extent to which supply and demand are collocated. For instance, for the copy editor position in the US, the price power has gone down a lot. On the other hand, because of the digital market, you can find good plumbers, who were historically expensive in the US.” – Arun Sundararajan
